    • Have you guys seen The Secret Life of Walter Mitty? Not your traditional travel movie but we absolutely loved it, one of our favorites!

      • I totally agree. Glad you added it to the list. I wanted to go to Iceland before watching it, but that made me want to go that much more! What beautiful countryside!

    • You are definitely right Peter – however, I had to leave it to my knowledge and what I had seen. Lots more to see and recommend in the future!

  1. Interesting list, kudos! Personal favorites are Darjeeling, Endless Summer, Lost in Translation and Motorcycle Diaries – all great movies which make you want to experience something new. Eat Pray Love and Walter Mitty… er… I’ll try and be polite and say they don’t do much for me :) If curious about a harsher (yet truer) depiction of what backpacking can be, check out “The Loneliest Planet”. It won’t make you rush to the nearest airport, but it displays a side of travel hardly ever seen outside of The Rosy World of Hollywood.

    • I agree with all of that for the most part. I think that those who have never traveled at all would be more inspired by Walter Mitty and Eat Pray Love than those seasoned travelers out there. We’ll have to check out “The Loneliest Planet”!

  2. Yes finally a list which includes the best travel documentary ever. Long Way Round is by far my favorite on this list. They are all good but I’ve watched that series like 5 times all the way through.

    • Love “Long Way Down” and “Long Way Round” such awesome docs. Being documentary filmmakers first, they are close to our hearts!
